Our editors spent two weeks working through Barcelona's best rooftop bars, from the Gothic Quarter's medieval skyline to the Barceloneta waterfront. The best rooftop bars in Barcelona are not hard to find, but knowing which ones are worth the cocktail prices and which ones coast on views alone — that takes research. This is the list that survives it.
The Best Rooftop Bars in Barcelona for Views
Barcelona rewards elevation. At street level the city is a maze of narrow lanes and Modernisme facades. Get above it and you understand the whole thing at once — the grid of Eixample stretching to the hills, the dark smudge of Montjuic, the sea a flat line at the edge. These bars have the best positions in the city.
01
Eclipse Barcelona
Port Olimpic$$$$Panoramic / Sleek
On the 26th floor of the W Barcelona hotel, Eclipse delivers an unobstructed 180-degree sweep from Montjuic to the Besòs river. The bar is all clean lines and dark upholstery — no nautical kitsch despite the marina setting. Go at sunset when the Barceloneta beach glows amber and the city lights start appearing. Pre-booking a table is non-negotiable on weekends.
Order: The Eclipse Negroni, finished tableside with an orange mist
02
Mirablau Skybar
Tibidabo$$$Elevated / Classic
Perched on the lower slopes of Tibidabo, Mirablau sits above the city rather than within it. The terrace looks straight down the length of the Avinguda del Tibidabo to the sea, a perspective that no other bar in Barcelona replicates. The crowd is a mix of locals who have been coming for decades and visitors who discovered it five minutes ago. Both groups stay until close.
Order: Cava sangria, made with proper cava rather than cava's lesser cousins
03
La Terrassa del Mar
Barceloneta$$$Seafront / Relaxed
A rooftop that faces directly onto the Mediterranean, La Terrassa del Mar earns its prices with uninterrupted sea views from a fifth-floor perch above the beach hotels of Barceloneta. The drinks program leans heavily on local vermut and house-made citrus spritzes. Come for the afternoon session, when the light is warm and the tables have not yet filled with the evening crowd.
Order: Vermut rojo with house olives and a wedge of manchego
The full Barcelona bar guide
Every category, every neighbourhood. Our complete Barcelona guide covers 120-plus listings across all 8 occasions.
The best rooftop bars in Barcelona for cocktails have invested in their drinks programs rather than relying on the altitude to carry the experience. These four have bartenders worth talking to.
04
Domus Barcelona
El Born$$$Low-lit / Intimate
A rooftop with a cocktail menu that changes with the seasons, Domus sits above the El Born neighbourhood and looks out over a mix of medieval rooftops and the distant Sagrada Familia spires. The bar is small and deliberately unshowy — no DJ, no bottle service, just a focused menu of eight cocktails and a handful of natural wines. The Catalan negroni variation uses local orange wine in place of sweet vermouth.
Order: Catalan Negroni with Penedes orange wine and Garcia de la Cruz gin
05
Nómada Terrace
Poble Sec$$Relaxed / Creative
Poble Sec is a neighbourhood that locals actually use, which makes Nómada Terrace one of the few rooftop bars in Barcelona where you will spend more time talking to the person beside you than looking at your phone. The terrace faces Montjuic and the bar runs a rotating menu of low-ABV cocktails alongside a longer list of full-strength options. Prices are honest. No tourist markup here.
Order: The Montjuic Spritz, a house blend of cava, elderflower, and local herbs
06
Axel Terrace
Eixample$$$Lively / Social
On top of the Axel Hotel in the Eixample, this terrace gets the full Gaudi backdrop — the tops of the Casa Batllo and Casa Mila visible from certain angles depending on where you plant yourself. The bar program is well-executed and the crowd is international and friendly. The pool bar adds a resort quality that most rooftops in the city cannot match. Arrive before 8pm to get a good position without queuing.
Order: Frozen Aperol spritz, the house signature on hot summer evenings

Hidden Terraces and Local Favourites
Not every great rooftop in Barcelona appears on the hotel booking sites. These four require a little more intent to find, which is precisely why they are worth finding.
07
La Isabela Rooftop
Gothic Quarter$$$Historic / Atmospheric
Set above one of the Gothic Quarter's narrow lanes, La Isabela occupies a converted 14th-century building with a rooftop that looks directly across the Roman ruins and the Barcelona Cathedral. The cocktail list references Catalan history, with drinks named after the old city gates. Service is measured and knowledgeable — the bartenders understand what they are making and why.
Order: The Porta Ferrissa, a mezcal and saffron cocktail with smoked honey
08
Frank's Rooftop
Gracia$$Neighbourhood / Casual
Frank's is the rooftop bar that Gràcia residents actually use on a Tuesday night. There is nothing destination about it except the fact that it is excellent. The terrace looks out over a sea of low residential rooftops, the kind of view that is more honest than spectacular. The drinks are well-priced, the music is at a conversational volume, and the kitchen sends out small plates that are better than they need to be.
Order: Draft Moritz with pan con tomate and anchovies from L'Escala
09
Alta Mar Bar
Barceloneta$$$Seafront / Lively
Alta Mar sits at the northern tip of Barceloneta and catches the evening breeze off the sea in a way that the hotel rooftops further south cannot replicate. The bar is unpretentious and the crowd is a genuine mix of post-beach crowd, local families eating late, and tourists who found it by walking rather than by scrolling. The caipirinha here is the best we have found in the city.
Order: Passion fruit caipirinha, made with Cachaca 51 and fresh limes from the market
10
Terrassa Poblenou
Poblenou$$Creative / Local
Poblenou is where Barcelona's creative industries have settled, and Terrassa Poblenou reflects that demographic perfectly. The rooftop is industrial and unfussy, with long communal tables, natural wine by the carafe, and a bar snacks menu that changes based on what the neighbourhood market had that morning. On Friday evenings a local DJ sets up in the corner, keeping things at a level that allows actual conversation.
Order: Orange wine from Montsant with a plate of cured meats and pickled vegetables
Barcelona's rooftop bars: the full directory
All 18 rooftop listings, filterable by neighbourhood, price, and occasion. Updated monthly.
Barcelona has more good rooftop bars than most European cities, partly because the climate supports them for eight months of the year and partly because the city's architecture provides exceptional views from almost any elevation. Our top pick remains Eclipse Barcelona for pure spectacle, but if you are staying in the Eixample or Gràcia, the neighbourhood options here will serve you better than taking a cab to the waterfront hotels.
Book ahead for any of the hotel rooftops between June and September. They fill up. The neighbourhood bars — Frank's, Nómada, Terrassa Poblenou — rarely require reservations and are more reliably open later into the week.
