Chicago
Old Town keeps Chicago's oldest taverns within a few blocks of Wells and Sedgwick, from a portrait covered ale house across from Second City to a game day bar with a retractable roof. These are the Old Town rooms our editors lead with.
Classic Tavern · Old Town
An Old Town institution across from Second City, lined with hand painted portraits and pouring cheap Old Style late into the night. The room has kept its low key character since the 1950s.
Sports Bar · Old Town
A two level sports bar at 1510 North Wells with 46 screens, two full bars, and Chicago's first retractable roof. On a warm game day the upper floor opens into a convertible beer garden.
Old Town classics worth knowing
Old Town rewards a walk down Wells and Sedgwick. Marge's Still, at 1758 North Sedgwick, has poured since 1885 and counts among the oldest continuously running taverns in the city. Twin Anchors, the 1932 ribs tavern at 1655 North Sedgwick, runs walk in only and built its name on tender baby back ribs and a long bar. Burton Place, at 1447 North Wells, keeps three floors open late and pulls the neighborhood's night owls after the kitchens close.
