Tokyo
Haneda Airport's International Terminal — renovated in 2014 and again in 2020 — is the best airport drinking in Asia and arguably in the world. The Suntory Whisky Bar in Terminal 3 (the international one, formerly called T2) runs a working Highball programme with hand-cut ice, freezer-cold glassware, and the same Yamazaki/Hibiki/Hakushu lineup you'd get at any serious Tokyo whisky bar. The bartenders have read the Suntory technique manual cover to cover and treat the Highball as the discipline it is. There is no comparable drink at any other airport on earth.

The cheat code at Haneda is the Royal Park Hotel directly connected to Terminal 3 — Sky Bar, on the upper floor, has Tokyo Bay views and a quiet whisky list. Most travellers don't know it exists. At Narita, the Hilton Narita's Twenty One Bar is the equivalent. Both are five-minute walks from check-in. If you have 60 spare minutes pre-airport, the Bar High Five in Ginza is a 90-minute round trip from Haneda by limo bus and worth it.
Plays for Haneda and Narita: post-security, pre-security, lounges, and the airport-hotel cheat code.
Pre-flight drinks, hotel-bar reviews, and the openings we're watching across 200+ cities. Friday mornings, no filler.
