Tulum Bar Guide

30+ bars across Tulum's drinking neighbourhoods, curated by editors who know the scene.

Tulum drinks like nowhere else. The bars run on candles, dripping wax, sand floors, and DJs. Mezcal is the spirit of the place. The drinks lean smoky, citrus-forward, and built around tropical fruit. The scene is the design as much as the cocktail.

Five neighbourhoods cluster the action. Tulum Beach (the hotel zone) runs the global-scene bars. Aldea Zama is the new condo-and-restaurant district. Tulum Pueblo is the old-town local quarter. La Veleta is the jungle-condo creative district. Holistika is the wellness-yoga retreat zone.

Cocktails run MXN 250 to MXN 450 ($14 to $26). Tulum is the most expensive Mexican bar town. Tip 15 percent. Most bars run to 2am, the beach clubs to 4am. Reserve Gitano and Casa Jaguar — both fill up by 8pm.

Neighbourhood Guide

Tulum Beach

The hotel zone along the coast. Beachfront cocktail bars, jungle-canopy restaurants, and the global-scene crowd. The expensive end of Tulum drinking.

Aldea Zama

The new condo-and-restaurant district between the beach and the pueblo. Small cocktail rooms, design-conscious bars, and a slightly slower pace.

Tulum Pueblo

The old town inland. Local-feel cantinas, mojito bars, taco-and-mezcal counters. Cheaper, louder, and more authentically Mexican.

La Veleta

Jungle-condo creative district north-west of the pueblo. Yoga studios, vegan kitchens, and the wellness-aware bar layer.

Holistika

The wellness retreat zone. Tea-and-cocktail rooms, sober-curious bars, and the crystal-and-candle aesthetic at full volume.
