Bar Bosch

Cafe BarCity centre$$

Bar Bosch is the grand old cafe of central Palma, trading at the top of the Born on Plaça Rei Joan Carles I and still the city's main meeting point.

This is a Palma institution, long a favourite of local regulars, per Indagare. The pavement tables make it the best people-watching seat in the centre.

Order the thick Spanish tortilla and a lomo y queso roll with a cana, or a coffee and an ensaimada before the plaza fills. The food is simple and reliable rather than ambitious.

The crowd is mixed and all-day, from morning coffee to an evening drink. Nothing here is fancy, which is the appeal.

Who would love it: anyone who wants a classic Palma cafe-bar and a front-row plaza seat. Who should skip it: drinkers after cocktails or a quiet room, since this is a busy, traditional spot.

Bar Bosch works best as a first or last stop in the centre. From here the old town and La Lonja are a short walk.

Bar Bosch appears on our list of the best bars in Palma, and the full Palma bar guide maps the rest of the city. Pair it with Can Cera or LAB Cocktail Bar nearby.
