Cafe La Lonja

Cafe BarLa Lonja$$

Cafe La Lonja is the terrace bar facing the Gothic Llotja on Carrer Llotja del Mar, equal parts cafe and aperitivo spot in old Palma by the harbour.

The square is the setting, with tables facing the medieval Llotja and a bar opposite for the evening, per the cafe's own listing. Lantern light and people-watching do the rest.

Order a vermouth or an Aperol spritz on the square, then move to the bar opposite for tapas from the wood oven. Gazpacho and a draft beer carry the summer menu.

The crowd is a steady mix of locals and visitors, and the cafe stays open late. It is cheap, central and reliable.

Who would love it: anyone after a relaxed terrace drink with a view of the Llotja. Who should skip it: drinkers after craft cocktails or a quiet room.

Cafe La Lonja is the easiest seat in the old town. Bar Abaco sits a few streets away for a cocktail to follow.

Cafe La Lonja appears on our list of the best bars in Palma, and the full Palma bar guide maps the rest of the city. Pair it with Purobeach or Bar Abaco nearby.
