A La Mort Subite

Pubs $$

A La Mort Subite has been pouring on Rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères since 1928 and is the most famous Lambic beer house in Brussels. The room is preserved Belle Époque — etched mirrors, marble tables, original wooden bar — and the atmosphere has not changed in decades.

The bar is named for the 'sudden death' card game played by patrons. The Lambic beers — Gueuze, Kriek, Faro, Framboise — are the focus. Each is served in its proper glass and the bartender will explain the differences. The food menu runs to traditional Brussels pub plates.

The crowd is heritage tourists, Brussels regulars, and visiting beer enthusiasts. Pair with Cantillon Brewery in Anderlecht for a complete Brussels Lambic afternoon.
