The Cadogan Arms

Pub Pubs $$$

A 200-year-old Chelsea pub on the King's Road, relaunched by JKS in 2021 with a serious kitchen and an upstairs bar.

The Cadogan Arms sits on the King's Road in Chelsea, near Chelsea Old Town Hall, in a building with a 200-year history as a pub. JKS Restaurants and Dominic Jacobs relaunched it in summer 2021 after a closure and restoration, with food from culinary director James Knappett and executive chef Alex Harper.

That pairing, a historic Chelsea local and a serious restaurant group, is the whole point. The ground floor stays a proper pub, there is an upstairs bar, and the kitchen runs simply prepared British produce with sharing roasts on Sundays. Come for a pint, a long dinner, or a roast. Skip it if you want a cheap, no-frills local, because the ambition is higher than that here.

The Cadogan Arms sits on the King's Road near Chelsea Old Town Hall. Walk in for a pint, head upstairs for the bar, or book the dining room for a roast or dinner.

The 2021 restoration kept the pub's bones while sharpening the look, with the ground floor working as a handsome bar and dining room. Lincrusta wall coverings and period detail feature in the refit.

Upstairs is a separate bar, a quieter room for a drink away from the main floor. The split lets the building work as both a pub and a destination dinner.

The bar keeps cask and craft beer alongside cocktails and a wine list, a broader range than a standard pub thanks to the JKS backing. The upstairs bar is the spot for a cocktail away from the dining crowd.

Order a pint downstairs, or head up for a cocktail before dinner. The kitchen builds around British produce, with provenance-led fish, meat, and vegetables and a Sunday roast, so a drink chosen to match the table works best.
