Our Take on Picalagartos Sky Bar
Picalagartos Sky Bar sits nine floors above Gran Via 21, on the roof of the NH Collection Madrid Gran Via. The terrace wraps the whole neo Baroque building, and the headline view points straight at the Telefonica tower, close enough to read the clock.
The Azotea Group runs the floor, the same operators behind several of Madrid's best known rooftops, with the cocktail list signed by mixologist Luca Anastasio. The Rooftop Guide prices the drinks at 15 to 18 euros and rates the 360 degree panorama among the best on Gran Via.
The terrace proper runs April to October, weather permitting, with a glassed sky bar holding the view year round. esmadrid, the city's tourism office, lists it among the defining Gran Via rooftops, and the sunset slots book out days ahead.
TheFork reviewers praise the views and the service and apply one consistent note, come for drinks rather than a full dinner, the restaurant one floor below handles the food better than the bar tables. Reservations are effectively essential after 7pm.
Book the sunset slot and arrive 20 minutes early to walk the full wraparound. For more height, see our Madrid rooftop bars guide, the best bars in Madrid, and the near me rooftop finder.
