Bar Basso

Cocktail Bars $$

Bar Basso is the heritage Milan aperitivo bar where the Negroni Sbagliato was invented in 1972. The story: a bartender accidentally grabbed Prosecco instead of gin while building a Negroni, served it anyway, and the drink became famous. The bar still serves the giant fishbowl version.

The Negroni Sbagliato comes in a fishbowl glass that requires two hands to lift. The room is preserved 1970s — leather banquettes, dim warm lighting, framed memorabilia covering every wall. Aperitivo is taken seriously and the food snacks are generous.

The crowd is mid-thirties Milan professionals, Italian celebrities, and visiting cocktail enthusiasts. Pair with Nottingham Forest for a complete Milan cocktail evening.
