Le Perchoir Marais

Le Perchoir Marais has closed. For roughly a decade it ran on the 7th floor of the BHV Marais department store on Rue de la Verrerie, reached by elevator and a back-street entrance, and it became one of central Paris's most photographed rooftops. The Rooftop Guide now lists it as closed, and Sortiraparis reported that a new operator has taken over the terrace. We are keeping this page up because the name still gets searched and the view it offered is worth remembering.

While it was open, the pitch was the skyline. From the top of BHV you looked straight across to the Hotel de Ville, the Seine, Notre-Dame and, on a clear evening, the Eiffel Tower. Urbansider and O'Bon Paris both filed it as a destination for the panorama as much as the drinks, and that was the honest read: you came for the view first.

The bar leaned bistrot-Marseillais in look, with low wooden tables, string lights and a shade canopy, and it ran DJ sets through the evening with a trendy, Mediterranean-leaning crowd. Cocktails were creative and on the spicy side, with a short list of bar bites. The recurring knock from reviewers was the queue: a small rooftop with a big view meant lining up, especially at sunset.

The closest replacement is Le Perchoir Menilmontant in Paris, the original rooftop from the same group, which still runs the sunset-and-DJ formula in the 11th. For a polished Eiffel-facing terrace, Girafe in Paris at the Palais de Tokyo is the glamour pick, and Monsieur Bleu in Paris next door pairs a riverside terrace with the same view.
