Get Directions Ask Our TeamOur Take on Herbārijs
Eight floors above Dzirnavu iela, on the roof of the Galleria Riga shopping centre, someone built a greenhouse and licensed it. Herbārijs, Herbary on the English menu, runs an interior almost entirely made of live plants that changes with the seasons, as Riga This Week describes it, under glass walls with the city's roofline and chimneys on every side.
The cocktail list works the same garden: herb driven signatures built around the plants overhead. The kitchen sends tempura tiger prawns, duck confit, and halloumi per The Rooftop Guide's menu summary, and a September 2025 Google reviewer rates the pork ribs with cheese and truffles above the view.
In summer the terrace joins the Avantgarden rooftop park next door and the whole roof becomes Centrs at golden hour. Book ahead; an August 2025 reviewer watched the walk ins behind him get turned away.
Reading the Room
All glass, all green. The Rooftop Guide calls the interior pretty much entirely glass with an outdoor terrace and panoramic views; Riga This Week files it as a fairy tale roof house orangerie and gives it the site's editorial badge.
Daylight makes it a conservatory cafe, dusk makes it a cocktail room, and the glass keeps both versions warm when the Baltic wind disagrees.

Who Shows Up, and When
Couples at sunset, groups on occasion budgets, and a steady photography trade drawn by the glasshouse. One of the more complete rooftop experiences in the city, a September 2025 Google reviewer concludes.
Evenings end earlier than the view deserves: nine on the quiet nights, eleven at the weekend peak, per the official site. The sunset slot is the room at full power.
The Word on the Street
- Perfect for sunsets, many behind us were not able to get a table, per an August 2025 Google reviewer.
- Drinks very well made, balanced and creative, per a September 2025 Google review.
- Great for breakfast, prices reasonable, at night only open until 22:00, per an August 2025 Google reviewer.
- Reviewers on Google and Tripadvisor flag overly sweet spritzes and service that slows at capacity, the standard tax on a fully booked roof.
Go, or Skip
- Sunset drinkers who want glass walls instead of wind
- Occasions that need a room people photograph
- Avoid if you want a late night; the glasshouse closes by 11pm at best
