The Pitch

Our Take on L'Umbracle Terraza

L'Umbracle Terraza opens each summer on the garden level of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciencies, under the white arches that frame Valencia's science complex. You come for the setting first. The Rooftop Guide ranks it among the city's essential open air venues for exactly that reason.

Know what you are walking into, though. This is a terrace club rather than a quiet cocktail room, the night starts near midnight, and the music runs until sunrise on the big nights.

The Room

Reading the Room

Two separate bars serve a landscaped walkway of more than 4,000 square meters, dressed with lounge sofas, palm trees, and lighting that plays off the arches overhead, per the Valencia Convention Bureau's venue sheet. Claim a sofa early if your group wants to sit. The rail on the south side gets you the photo of the illuminated complex that everyone leaves with.

The space stays open to the sky, so a cool June night feels better here than any interior in the city.

The Drinks

What to Order First

01
A gin and tonic from the main bar
Spanish terrace logic applies: the gin pours run generous and survive the volume of a packed night better than anything shaken. The Bar's Spain guide lists L'Umbracle among the city's reference terraces for exactly this serve.
02
Cava before the floor fills
Order it early, before 1am, while the bartenders still have time to chill glasses. It suits the setting and costs less than the cocktail list.
03
Bottled beer when the queue runs deep
On peak Saturdays the bar lines grow. A bottle gets you back to your group in half the time a mixed drink takes.
Crowd and Vibe

Who Shows Up, and When

The crowd mixes dressed up locals, international students, and travelers who planned a big night, with VIP tables ringing the dance floor. Reviewers consistently praise the view and flag the prices, so budget for both.

Thursday runs calmer than Saturday. Arrive after midnight either way; before that you will share the terrace with the staff.
