Editorial
Brickell stopped being a financial district years ago and became Miami's most concentrated bar neighbourhood instead. The towers stack rooftops on top of cocktail rooms on top of waterfront terraces. Some are tourist traps with a view. A handful are the best rooms in the city. Here is the editorial shortlist of bars in Brickell our editors return to in 2026, ranked by what they actually serve and how the room actually feels.
The 14 Brickell bars worth knowing: Sugar at EAST holds the rooftop crown, Komodo Lounge owns the late-night room, La Mar at Mandarin Oriental still pulls the best pisco-and-ceviche crowd in Miami, and Crazy About You holds the after-work waterfront. Skip the chain rooftops on South Miami Avenue. Book Sugar by 5pm or Tuesday Komodo at 9.
Brickell's transformation began around 2014. The empty office plinths got their lobbies converted into restaurants. The hotel rooftops opened to the public. Then the boutique cocktail rooms followed, tucked into ground floors and waterfront pockets that had previously held nothing but parking ramps.
The result, in 2026, is a square mile that holds at least 40 working bars. Our shortlist below is the 14 worth your night. Each one earns its place by drink discipline, room atmosphere, or a view that the rest of Miami cannot match.
Brickell's rooftop bracket is where most visitors start. Three rooms earn the climb. The rest are chain-owned and skippable.
Sugar holds the Miami rooftop title and has done so since it opened in 2017. The 40th-floor garden terrace points west over the city skyline, with a long teak bar that serves Asian-leaning cocktails, lychee martinis done right, and a tom yum margarita that defends itself.
Arrive by 5:30pm on weekends or accept the queue. Tuesday and Wednesday at 7pm are the booking sweet spot. The dress code is Miami smart: no shorts after 6pm, no flip flops anytime.
Best for: first-time Brickell. Best time: weekday 6pm, never Saturday.
Area 31 is the bay-facing rooftop the locals pick over Sugar. The view points east across Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach rather than the city interior. The pool deck doubles as a bar terrace after sundown.
The drinks are honest: classics done correctly, a tight signature list, no theatre. The food programme is restaurant-grade and worth ordering through. Reservations recommended Thursday through Sunday.
Best for: locals night out. Best time: Wednesday at 7:30pm.
Rosa Sky is the underrated middle-tier Brickell rooftop. The 20th floor sits above the height of the surrounding buildings, the cocktail list is dialled in, and the prices undercut Sugar by roughly thirty percent.
Spanish-leaning menu: gin tonics done seriously, a vermouth list, plates that travel from Barcelona. The room is smaller than Sugar but the seating is better and the queue is rarely a factor.
Best for: after-work without the queue. Best time: Tuesday at 6:30pm.
If the rooftops are the postcard, the cocktail rooms are the reason to stay. Five Brickell rooms run cocktail programmes that rank against any neighbourhood in Miami.
La Mar has been Miami's destination pisco bar since 2014. The cocktail list is built around Peruvian botanicals, with a chicha morada sour that is the order. The waterfront terrace points back at the Brickell skyline from across the bay.
The bar runs independently of the restaurant. You can walk into the bar room without a dinner reservation and find a seat on a weekday. Friday and Saturday require booking.
Best for: the date that has to land. Best time: Thursday at 8pm.
The lounge upstairs at Komodo is Brickell's most-booked late-night room. The drinks lean Asian-spirit forward: shochu highballs, Japanese whisky service, an umeshu list that is the deepest in Miami. The DJ does not start until 11pm.
The cover charge and bottle minimum kick in on weekends. Tuesday and Wednesday are the bar-only nights. Reservation through Resy required after 10pm any night.
Best for: late-night without the South Beach drive. Best time: Tuesday at 10pm.
The Regent is Miami's most-disciplined classic cocktail bar. The list is short, the bartenders read like they came out of a London training programme, and the room is lit at the colour of a single candle. No food beyond a small bar snacks list. Dress code enforced.
Best for: the drink that is actually about the drink. Best time: Tuesday at 9pm.
Technically a step north into downtown, included here because Brickell residents adopt it as their own. Lost Boy occupies a 1903 hardware store with the original ceiling and tin signage intact. The list rotates monthly. The Old Fashioned is the order.
Best for: the historic room nobody Instagrams. Best time: any weekday after 7pm.
The Brickell branch of the Sweet Liberty South Beach institution opened in 2025 and has already earned its place. The list mirrors the South Beach mothership: Daiquiris done correctly, the Sweet Liberty Punch as the bowl order, a happy hour from 4 to 8pm that holds Miami's best price-per-drink ratio.
Best for: after-work with substance. Best time: Wednesday 5:30pm.
Brickell's waterfront curve, from the Mandarin Oriental down to the Brickell Key bridge, holds a string of rooms that point at the bay. These are the after-work picks and the casual-date picks for people who want a view without the rooftop premium.
Crazy About You holds the longest open-air waterfront terrace in Brickell. The view points across the bay at the EAST and Four Seasons towers. The drinks list is competent rather than ambitious; you are here for the room, not the bartender.
Best for: the early-relationship date. Best time: Sunday 5pm.
The Brickell Cipriani sits inside the Aston Martin Residences tower with a small bay-facing terrace that holds maybe twenty seats. The Bellini is the order. The room reads like Venice did the night Bellini was invented.
Best for: the slow drink before dinner. Best time: Tuesday at 6pm.
Daniel Boulud's Brickell bar runs a Mediterranean-leaning list: aperitivo culture, vermouth flights, a Negroni that the bartender will adjust to taste. The room is small, lit warm, and rarely full on weekdays.
Best for: pre-theatre or pre-dinner. Best time: any weekday 5:30pm.
Three rooms that the financial-district residents call their own. None of these are listed in tourist guides, all three are within walking distance of the Brickell Metromover.
Mama Tried sits a five-minute walk north of central Brickell and pulls the post-finance crowd most weeknights. The list runs to bourbon-forward classics and a frozen Negroni that has become Miami's quietest signature cocktail.
Best for: the residents-only feel. Best time: Thursday 6pm.
The cebicheria's bar-only section runs a working pisco sour menu that doubles as an education. Five pisco varietals, three citrus modifiers, four sour styles. Order the comparison flight and the bartender will walk you through it.
Best for: the spirits-led night. Best time: Tuesday or Wednesday 7pm.
Pisco y Nazca is the affordable pisco room in Brickell. The list runs about half the price of La Mar's, the bartenders are friendly, and the chicha morada slushy is a hot-weather order. Best for groups.
Best for: a group of four on a Saturday. Best time: Saturday 6pm before the dinner queue.
Brickell rewards walkable nights. The 14 rooms above are all within a 25-minute walk of each other. A typical editorial run is rooftop at Sugar (5:30pm), cocktail room at La Mar or Sweet Liberty (7:30pm), late-night at Komodo (10pm). The Metromover is free and useful when the weather turns.
