Fire pits in London are a winter sport. The city has no year-round campfire scene, so the good ones arrive with the cold: rooftop pop-ups, covered beer gardens and hotel terraces that wheel out the flames, blankets and mulled wine from roughly November through February.
We built this shortlist from London listings coverage, cross-checking DesignMyNight's campfire round-up against Time Out's winter-terrace picks, and kept only venues where the fire pit is a real, documented fixture rather than a stray patio heater. Most run seasonally, so check dates before you go.
Queen of Hoxton turns its Shoreditch rooftop into a winter hideout each year, with warming firepits, a giant yurt and steaming cocktails while DJs run the floors below. DesignMyNight rates it among the capital's best rooftop fire pits. For a lively East London night that starts on the roof and ends on the dancefloor.
Campfire is the covered, heated beer garden at Two Tribes Brewery near King's Cross, a summer sun-trap fitted with fire pits for the cold months. Pull pints from the taproom, order fire-cooked food, then toast marshmallows over the flames. For beer drinkers who want the campfire without leaving Zone 1.
Boundary's Shoreditch rooftop takes its winter cue from the Alps, built around a central fire pit strung with fairy lights and frosted willow. The pairing is gooey fondue and rose cider cocktails under the stars. For a photogenic, fondue-forward evening in East London.
The Fire Garden is Ham Yard Hotel's winter roof-terrace pop-up off Piccadilly Circus, with city views, wood-fired cooking and DIY s'mores. Tickets include a welcome hot drink and a cocktail of your choice. For a central, sofa-and-blanket night with the fire at the centre.
Isla is the garden terrace at The Standard in King's Cross, weather-proofed with awnings, fairy lights and blankets around a centrepiece hearth that stays lit all night. The kitchen leans upmarket and the cocktails are sharp. For a smarter fire-pit dinner opposite St Pancras.
Trinity Arms is a Brixton pub with one of South London's cosiest covered beer gardens, an open fire, mulled-wine receptions and generous roasts and sharing boards. For a proper pub fire rather than a rooftop scene.
Fire & Fromage is a festive Southbank pop-up built around cabana seating and its own fire pits, trading on Alpine fondue at around thirty-five pounds a head including dessert, with Thames views thrown in. For a seasonal, cheese-heavy blowout by the river.
We weight three things: whether the fire pit is genuinely central to the room, the quality of the drinks and food around it, and how comfortable the space stays on a cold night. Our sourcing here leans on London rooftop and winter-terrace coverage from DesignMyNight and Time Out rather than a single visit.
We publish the honest length. This is seven venues, not the padded ten an earlier version of this guide promised, because seven is the number we can point to a documented fire pit for. Several are seasonal pop-ups; where a spot only fires up in winter, we say so rather than imply it runs all year.
