The 9 Best Whisky Bars in Seoul 2026

Seoul does not have many bars that call themselves whisky bars, but it has some of the deepest backbars in Asia. The best rooms here are cocktail-led speakeasies and hotel lounges whose shelves run far past the usual Glenfiddich 12, into Scotch, Japanese, and Korean malts worth crossing the city for. Four of the nine below sit on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025.

The scene splits across Cheongdam and Gangnam south of the river, Seochon and Itaewon to the north, plus a couple of hotel bars with the views. Most are basement or hidden rooms that open in the evening and stay late. Here are the nine to drink whisky in.

The 9 best whisky bars in Seoul

  1. 01

    Le Chamber

Le Chamber hides behind a bookcase in Cheongdam and ranked No. 50 on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025. The back wall is a wall of bottles, and the whisky list runs deep into Scotch and Japanese rarities. Drinks are exact and not cheap. Best for a late, quiet pour when you want a serious backbar and a room that means it.

  2. 02

    Alice Cheongdam

Alice Cheongdam runs an Alice in Wonderland theme, entered through a flower shop in Cheongdam, and sits at No. 13 on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025. The cocktails are theatrical, but the spirit shelf holds up for a straight whisky. It opens nightly 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Best for a date that wants a show with the drink, late and loud.

  3. 03

    Southside Parlor

Southside Parlor is the Texan bar in Itaewon, run by Americans who smoke their own meat and pour an honest whiskey list. It opens 6 p.m. to midnight, closed Mondays, with a rooftop for warm nights. The bourbon and rye selection beats most cocktail bars in town. Best for a no-attitude drink and brisket when Cheongdam feels too polished.

  4. 04

    The Timber House

The Timber House sits inside the Park Hyatt Seoul and bills itself as a premium whisky and cocktail bar with live music. The room is dark wood with hanok touches, the backbar is deep, and a band plays most nights. Drinks run hotel-bar high. Best for a grown-up whisky and a jazz set when you want comfort over a hidden door.

  5. 05

    Charles H

Charles H, in the basement of the Four Seasons Seoul, made the World's 50 Best Bars list in 2021 and 2022 and still pours like it. The whisky and cocktail program is among the most serious in the city, with prices to match. Best for a special-occasion drink when you want polish, a deep backbar, and a seat that earns the tab.

  6. 06

    Bar Cham

Bar Cham works a quiet Seochon hanok and placed No. 6 on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025, built on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The room is small, so book ahead. It runs Wednesday to Monday, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. The spirit work is precise. Best for a calm, considered drink away from the Gangnam crowd.

  7. 07

    The Griffin

The Griffin Bar sits on the 11th floor of the JW Marriott Dongdaemun and looks out over the old city wall and the DDP. The whisky list is broad and the view does half the work. It opens 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Best for an early-evening pour at the window before the room fills, when the light over the wall is still good.

  8. 08

    Mixology

Mixology is a basement bar on Dosan-daero in Gangnam, kitted out in kitsch nineties decor with a mirrored bar top. Cocktails run around $14, and the bartenders host regular masterclasses from ice carving on up. It opens Monday to Saturday, reservations smart on weekends. Best for a well-made classic and a backbar deep enough to drink whisky neat.

  9. 09

    Zest

Zest in Gangnam ranked No. 2 on Asia's 50 Best Bars for 2025 and took Best Bar in Korea, built on a low-waste, sustainability-first program. The drinks are inventive without being precious, and the spirit selection rewards a neat pour. Book ahead. Best for the city's most-talked-about bar when you want the room everyone is chasing.

How Seoul drinks whisky

These nine are where Seoul actually drinks whisky: backbars with real depth, staff who know what they are pouring, and lists that go well past the entry-level malts. The famous names like Zest, Le Chamber, and Bar Cham lead, but the hotel bars and Itaewon's Southside Parlor hold their own for a straight pour.

James Harlow is a former bartender who grades every room from its worst seat and cares more about what sits on the backbar than the door policy. For this guide he leaned on the Asia's 50 Best list, the bars' own programs, and the people who drink in them.
