The Best Airport Bars in Milan

Milan operates two airports and the choice between them changes everything. Malpensa (MXP) handles long-haul international and most non-Schengen flights — it's a 50-minute train ride from Milano Centrale and the larger of the two. Linate (LIN) handles short-haul European and is a 15-minute bus ride from Stazione Centrale, which makes pre-flight drinking in the city itself a more practical proposition. Bergamo (BGY) is the third option for low-cost carriers and is functionally a different city in airport terms.

The cheat code at MXP is the Sheraton Malpensa Airport directly attached to T1 by walkway — its ground-floor restaurant pours real Northern Italian wines at half the airside price. At Linate, the airport is so small that the play is simply to head into Milan: the Brera district is 25 minutes by Metro M4 (which now runs direct from LIN), and the entire Milanese aperitivo culture is on offer there. Bar Basso for the original Negroni Sbagliato is six minutes from M4.
