Perth Bar Guide

30+ bars across Perth's drinking neighbourhoods, curated by editors who know the city.

Perth's small-bar revolution started with a 2007 law change that let venues with under 120 seats skip the full pub license. Within five years the city had over 80 small bars. Today Perth has the densest concentration of cocktail-led laneway venues in Australia. The Indian Ocean sunsets handle the rest.

Five neighbourhoods cluster the scene. Northbridge is the laneway-cocktail spine. Mount Lawley is the residential-cool quarter. Leederville is the indie food-and-drink strip. Fremantle on the coast is the heritage port district. The CBD covers the polished after-work bars.

Cocktails run AUD 19 to AUD 25. Tipping is not standard. Most bars run to 2am, weekend bars to 3am. Reserve Tiny's and Sneaky Tony's on Friday and Saturday — both have small-format rooms that fill fast.
