The Survivor of Labone

Twist holds a rare title in a city where clubs turn over fast: one of Ghana's oldest nightclubs, still drawing a full floor in the heart of Labone. Time Out's Accra club listings carry it as a fixture, and City Life Accra lists the renovated venue among the city's reliable nights out.

The renovation split the venue in two registers: a dance floor with private booths below and the newer Twist Lounge upstairs, where the cocktail program does its best work. Wanderlog reviewers single out the air conditioning and the drinks, two things Accra clubs rarely get right at once.

Who would hate it? Early birds. Reviewers are blunt that the room disappoints before midnight and peaks from about 1:30am.

Booths Below, Lounge Above

Downstairs runs as the club proper: a tight dance floor, DJ booth, and private booths along the walls for groups that want bottle service. The upstairs lounge trades volume for conversation and is the right call before 1am. The door enforces a smart dress code; sneakers and shorts risk a polite refusal.

Cocktails That Outclass the Hour

Order from the cocktail list upstairs; City Life Accra credits the bartenders with expertly crafted drinks alongside the standard local and international bottles. Tripadvisor reviewers rate the drinks as the venue's most consistent strength. Watch your glass on the floor; more than one review urges standard big club caution with unattended drinks.

Accra Dresses Up for This One

The floor mixes young professionals, regulars who predate the renovation, and visitors steered in by hotel concierges. Entry policy is old school: men pay cover, women often do not, and the dress code holds. Fridays and Saturdays run hardest, with the 2am close arriving mid party.

What regulars say:

  • Wanderlog reviewers praise the air conditioning, drinks, and management since the renovation.
  • Tripadvisor's recent reviews call it currently the best of Accra's late clubs while warning not to arrive early.
  • Time Out lists Twist as a Labone fixture among Ghana's longest running nightclubs.

Who it is for:

  • Late starters who want a dressed up dance floor after midnight
  • Groups splitting a booth and a bottle
  • Avoid if you want live instruments; book a table at +233 Jazz Bar instead
