Our Take on Pixel
· Hidden Pixel is the twelve-seat counter bar tucked behind a service door on High Street, and it has quietly become the room Auckland's bartender community drinks at on their nights off. The cocktail programme — built by owner-operator Sarah Lin — leans on hyper-fresh ingredients drawn from the Matakana growers' market each Friday: a Cucumber and Yuzu Gimlet, a Tomato Leaf Martini, a kombucha-based highball that turns over weekly.
There is no menu and no spec list; you order by flavour direction. The room is concrete-walled, brightly lit, with one rotating piece of contemporary New Zealand art on the back wall. Seventh because the ingredient sourcing is genuinely the most considered in the city and because the format — twelve seats, no menu — rewards return visits more than any other room here.
