Our Take on The
rooftop The Foxglove is the CBD rooftop that has, despite the relatively modest view, built one of the more interesting cocktail programmes in the city by quietly hiring out of Britomart's better counter bars. The terrace looks west across the lower CBD rather than north toward the harbour, which means a longer late-afternoon light and a softer golden hour than the marina-facing rooms get.
The cocktail menu is built around modern classics with a clear New Zealand-botanical signature — manuka honey, horopito and lemon verbena recur — and the back-bar's reserve gin shelf is now genuinely deep. The food programme is competent rather than ambitious, and the room handles wind better than its open layout suggests. The Foxglove ranks fifth because the drinks programme is the strongest at this price tier, and the view, while not the city's most dramatic, is properly used.
