Lazarus operates walk-in throughout the week. Large group patio reservations can be arranged via their website. The back patio fills quickly on Saturday afternoons from 2pm onward.
1902 E 6th St · East Austin
Lazarus Brewing occupies a converted church on East 6th Street, and they have leaned all the way into the resurrection theme. The stained glass is intact. The ceiling is high. The 16-tap bar sits where the altar used to be. It is one of the more genuinely original taproom concepts in Austin, and the beer is good enough that the concept never feels like a gimmick.
The brewery specialises in approachable, well-made craft beer rather than aggressively experimental releases. You will find a clean IPA, a solid stout, several rotating seasonals, and occasionally a sour that makes you wonder why they do not make more of them. Everything on tap is brewed on-site. The taproom also serves a full food menu, which is more substantial than most breweries manage.
The back patio is the main draw on warm days, which in Austin means roughly 10 months of the year. Dogs are welcome, the picnic tables are consistently occupied by a cross-section of East Austin — tech workers, artists, families, and everyone in between. The brunch service on Saturdays from noon includes a solid eggs Benedict and bottomless mimosas, which regularly draws a 30-minute queue. Come before noon or after 2pm.
