Hair of the Dog

Craft Beer $$

Hair of the Dog opened in 2014 and remains Bangkok's most-recommended specialist craft beer bar, per Time Out Bangkok's 2024 craft-beer guide. The cellar room runs a focused programme of Belgian sours, lambic, and a rotating set of pours from the city's better Thai craft brewers. There are roughly twelve taps and a deep fridge.

This is the bar for the drinker who has been to Mikkeller and wants the next level of specialist beer in Bangkok. Pints are reasonably priced for a hotel-adjacent location and the bartenders are happy to walk a beginner through the lambic list. Regulars on r/Bangkok and r/CraftBeer both consistently flag it as the city's most-recommended specialist beer room.

Walk-in friendly. For groups or to confirm hours, check the bar's site or social pages.

The room is one of the better-hidden cellars in Sukhumvit. Down a short staircase off Soi 11, low ceiling, brick walls, exposed timber. The Bangkok Post's craft beer guide called it "the most-recommended cellar-room beer bar in Bangkok" — physically the closest the city comes to a European cellar pub.

Skip the standard pilsners and lagers on the fridge list; the programme is built around the sours.

The crowd is mostly serious beer drinkers and the city's hospitality staff on industry nights (Tuesday and Wednesday). It is rarely loud and the cellar location keeps the volume contained. Time Out Bangkok's 2024 nightlife coverage flagged the room as the most-recommended cellar in Sukhumvit for a quiet conversation between rounds.

Keep drinking
