Casa Macareu opened in El Born and is the most serious vermouth specialist in Barcelona. The vermouth list runs to around 80 bottles from across Spain, France, and Italy, with a strong Catalan focus. Around 20 are available by the glass.
The kitchen produces small Catalan plates that pair thoughtfully with the vermouth. The food is precise and the bartender-sommelier explains each pour. Natural wines by the glass complement the vermouth programme.
