RiNo, near 38th & Blake station
Pours in the single digits, pretzels to match
Lager only, no exceptions
Our Take on Bierstadt Lagerhaus
Bierstadt Lagerhaus brews nothing but lager at 2875 Blake Street in RiNo, inside the Rackhouse complex a short walk from 38th and Blake station. Brewers Ashleigh Carter and Bill Eye run the place around a copper brewhouse built in Bavaria in 1932, shipped over and reassembled piece by piece.
The flagship is the Slow Pour Pils, a German style pilsner that takes around five minutes to pour and arrives with a dense white cap. Westword has repeatedly ranked Bierstadt among the best breweries in Denver, and BeerAdvocate reviewers call the Pils one of the best beers made in Colorado.
The room runs as a proper beer hall, long tables, a stage for live music and an outdoor area with cornhole and giant Jenga. It gets loud on weekend evenings, and that is the point.
Order the Helles if you want something softer than the Pils, or the Dunkel when the weather turns. The kitchen keeps things German and simple, with pretzels doing most of the work.
Go on a weekday afternoon if you want to hear the brewers talk lager. For more of the city, see our Denver craft beer guide, the best craft beer bars in Denver, and the near me craft beer finder.
