Apfelwein Solzer has belonged to the Solzer family since 1893, and the fifth generation now runs the house at Berger Strasse 260 in upper Bornheim. The family still presses its own Apfelwein, which puts Solzer in a shrinking club of Frankfurt taverns that pour their own cider rather than a wholesaler's.
Frankfurt's official tourism board lists Solzer as an original Frankfurt Wirtshaus and singles out its garden as one of the city's loveliest. Come for cider in the courtyard, schnitzel with fried potatoes, and the last of old Bornheim hospitality. Skip it if you want cocktails or quiet; this is a bench and Bembel operation.
