Our Take

Drinks on the Lekki Lagoon

Sailor's Lounge sits over the water off Admiralty Road in Lekki Phase 1 and bills itself as Nigeria's first floating bar. The space splits into three sections, Sailor's Bar, Captain's Cabin, and Captain's Deck, with the deck built directly above the lagoon.

It suits date nights, visiting friends you want to impress, and long Sunday afternoons with the band playing. It will frustrate anyone in a hurry; reviewers consistently warn that busy nights slow the kitchen down.

The Room

Wood decking, rope rails, and open sides keep the nautical theme literal rather than decorative. Eat Drink Lagos singled out the setting as the reason to come, with the lagoon breeze doing work no interior designer could. Sunset is the room's best feature.

The Drinks

The cocktail list leans tropical and sweet, led by the house Drunken Sailor. Expect Lagos island pricing, with cocktails around 8,000 to 12,000 naira and bottle service beyond that. The seafood platter, calamari, croaker, lobster, crab, and prawns, is the standard table order alongside grilled catfish.

Drunken Sailor
The signature rum led house cocktail.
Seafood platter
Calamari, croaker, lobster, crab, and prawns for the table.
Grilled catfish
The local benchmark dish, done properly here.
Chapman, non alcoholic
The Nigerian classic for the designated driver.

The Crowd

Lekki professionals, island families at the weekend, and a steady expat contingent. Tripadvisor reviewers note the live band on Sundays shifts the room from restaurant to lounge as the evening runs on. Birthdays and group celebrations dominate Saturday nights.

The Neighborhood

Admiralty Road is the spine of Lekki Phase 1 nightlife, ten minutes from Victoria Island across the Lekki bridge. Make a night of it with Vellvett nearby, or start earlier at The Lounge VI across the water.

When to Go

Sunday afternoon into evening is the play, when the live band runs and the sunset lands across the lagoon. Weekdays stay calm and are better for conversation and the seafood.

What Regulars Say

  • Come for sunset; the lagoon view is the whole point, repeated across Tripadvisor and Google reviews.
  • Service slows badly when the deck fills, so order food early.
  • The Sunday band is consistently called the best night of the week.
  • Ask for Captain's Deck seating to be directly over the water.

Who It Is For

  • A date that needs a view rather than a scene
  • Sunday live music over the water
  • Avoid if you are hungry and in a hurry on a Saturday night

Plenty of Lagos lounges promise waterfront; Sailor's Lounge actually floats on it. Time it to sunset and the room sells itself.
