Our Take on The
pub The Arkles is the Anfield LFC pub closest to the away-end side of the ground, which has historically given it a slightly looser, more mixed matchday identity than the Walton-side institutions and an unusually well-developed away-fan welcome that other pubs in the area have never quite matched. The screen layout is generous, the audio is routed cleanly to the Liverpool feed, and the room handles both home and away ends of the matchday well.
The beer programme runs Tetley's, Carling and a small cask rotation alongside a respectable Scotch shelf for the post-match dram. The food is honest matchday fare.
The crowd is genuinely mixed by Liverpool standards, which suits visitors and away-day pilgrims. It ranks third because the away-fan integration is the most fully realised on the Anfield side, and the matchday rhythm is consistently held.
