Ferpal stood at Calle del Arenal 7, on the pedestrian run between Sol and Ópera, for almost five decades. It was a gourmet deli at the front and a standing bar at the back, the kind of address Time Out Madrid called a mythic Madrid business when it shut. The draw was simple and famous: bocadillos of jamón and lomo ibérico, cut from the legs behind the counter, eaten standing with a small glass of wine. eldiario.es, in its Somos Madrid section, framed Ferpal as part of a vanishing kind of city centre business, the neighbourhood deli squeezed out of the historic core.
