Our Take on Transit
rooftop · Yarra view Transit Rooftop, perched above the Federation Square complex, gives the most genuinely panoramic view of any rooftop in central Melbourne — the Yarra River running south, Flinders Street Station immediately below, the MCG visible to the east, and the CBD towers rising behind. The terrace is generously sized, the seating is built for crowd flow rather than long-sit drinking, and the cocktail programme is solid mid-tier work: a competent classics list, a small stable of seasonal signatures, and a workmanlike Australian wine list.
The food programme is functional rather than ambitious. The room handles its peak Friday volume well, and the heating strategy extends the usable season into late autumn. It ranks fourth because the view is the city's most complete and the room operates reliably at its mid-tier brief.
