Bar Information
Sun: 5pm–11pm
Baltra Bar occupies the space that every great neighbourhood has and very few achieve: the place where the serious drinkers go when they don't want to perform. No awards on the wall, no tasting menu format, no theatrical cocktail delivery. Just well-made drinks at honest prices in a room that feels like it was designed for the neighbourhood rather than for Instagram.
The bar opened in 2016 and has quietly become one of the most reliable cocktail destinations in Roma Norte. The menu rotates with the seasons and leans heavily on Mexican spirits — the back bar is a serious survey of sotol, raicilla, bacanora, and mezcal producers you won't find outside Oaxaca. The team drinks what they sell, which matters. Ask for a recommendation and you'll get a genuine answer rather than a rehearsed description.
"The bar the neighbourhood actually drinks at. Which tells you everything."
For context, Baltra sits in the same neighbourhood as Licorería Limantour, but draws a different crowd. Limantour is destination drinking; Baltra is what happens after. The two complement each other well on a Roma Norte evening. Also worth knowing: Baltra's mezcal selection rivals anything in the city, including dedicated mezcalerías. The staff can walk you through regional differences in a way that makes the tasting educational without being tedious.
