The Speakeasy That Out Tikis Florida

Kaona Room hides inside The Leinster pub at 1600 NE 1st Ave in Edgewater, a 45 guest tiki speakeasy from Daniele Dalla Pola of Esotico. Time Out Miami calls it a kitschy, dimly lit wormhole to Hawaii.

The Infatuation describes bartenders shaking flammable spices onto cocktails while fake thunder plays through the speakers, in a dim room of palm fronds, bamboo, wicker chairs, and glass fishing buoys.

OpenTable diners hold it at 4.9 across 149 ratings, and one widely echoed review puts it in their top five tiki bars anywhere. In a state full of chickee hut pretenders, this is the real programme.

The Hull of an Old Wooden Ship

Antiques and original island decor fill the room: statuesque lamps with woven shades, big wicker chairs, barely lit corners, and jazzy island sounds underneath, per Time Out Miami. The 45 guest cap keeps the whole thing intimate by design.

Modern Tiki, Serious Rum

The list does traditional tiki through a modern lens, with most cocktails running 16 to 19 dollars. Order a Mai Tai first and let the rum collection, more than 50 expressions deep, steer round two. The kitchen sends out the Kraken Dog and Rock'n'Shrimp, the two plates reviewers keep naming.

Date Nights and Tiki Pilgrims

Couples and cocktail travelers fill the room from the 6pm open, and weekends sell through. Walk ins squeeze in when space permits, but Friday and Saturday entry is never guaranteed, per the bar's own reservation guidance.

What regulars say:

  • OpenTable diners rate it 4.9 across 149 reviews, with service names like Billy and Thomas appearing repeatedly.
  • A much quoted review calls it top five among every tiki bar the writer has visited, on drinks and presentation.
  • Time Out Miami crowns it for aesthetics, hospitality, and cocktails in a state short on true tiki.

Who it is for:

  • Dates that need theater without a velvet rope attitude
  • Rum collectors chasing 50 plus expressions
  • Avoid if you want loud, standing room energy; the cap is 45 seats

Where It Lands

Miami's most convincing tiki room and one of its hardest reservations to regret. Book ahead, order the Mai Tai, stay for the thunder.
