The Pitch

What Timber Hut Is

Timber Hut has held 118/1 Yaowarat Road since 1991, which makes it the longest running live music room in Phuket Town by a wide margin.

Thai bands open at 10pm with Thai and international covers; a DJ takes the handover around 11.30pm and drives the room to its 2am close, per Phuket.com's nightlife guide.

This is where Phuket Town actually goes out. Patong is for the tourists; the locals are here.

The Room

Reading the Room

A two storey red brick hall with the stage commanding the ground floor and a balcony rail for watching the crowd below.

Cityseeker describes a chalet style interior of dark timber that has soaked up three decades of noise.

It gets loud, close, and warm. That is the product.

The Drinks

The Menu, Edited

01
A whisky bottle for the table
The local ritual: a bottle, ice, and mixers split four ways beats resort prices by half.
02
A Chang tower while the band plays
Beer towers are table furniture here. Order one and stop calculating.
03
Thai kitchen plates before 10pm
The kitchen runs Thai standards at Phuket Town prices. Eat before the volume arrives.
The Crowd

Who Shows Up, and When

Thai locals, expats, and the occasional celebrity sighting, per Window on Phuket. Tourists who find it tend to file it as the trip's best night.

Before 10pm you can talk. After 10pm you dance or you leave.

Weekends pack both floors.
