Our Take on Lost and Found

Lost and Found sits on Guerrero Street without much fanfare and delivers more than most bars that announce themselves loudly. The room is warm and low-lit, with salvaged wood and mismatched vintage furniture that looks intentional rather than accidental. The regulars are Mission locals who have claimed their stools. The visiting drinkers who find the place tend to become regulars themselves.

The cocktail program operates on a rotation of 14 drinks, divided into light, medium, and spirit-forward. Each drink is described simply and honestly: the ingredients, the style, and the spirit base. No elaboration, no mythology. The work is done by what is in the glass. Most drinks land in the $14 to $17 range, which is honest for this level of execution in San Francisco.

Lost and Found belongs on the same evening as Trick Dog nearby. Start here for a quieter first drink, then move on when the room fills. Or vice versa: finish here when the bigger room has had its run. The full San Francisco hidden gems guide covers more of the city's best-kept secrets across all neighborhoods.

What to Order
01
The Spirit-Forward Cocktail of the Evening
Check what is current in the stirred, spirit-forward section. Lost and Found does these particularly well: Manhattans and their relatives, Negroni variations, and original builds in the same vein. Properly cold, properly diluted.
02
The Citrus-Forward Seasonal Sour
Always on the menu in some form. The citrus is freshly squeezed on shift and the egg white is dry-shaken before ice goes in. An excellent drinking cocktail for warm evenings or the first round of the night.
03
Whatever the Bartender Recommends
The staff at Lost and Found have been here long enough to know the menu thoroughly and to know which drinks are landing best on any given night. Ask what they would drink and take that.
04
A Digestif to Close
The Amaro and digestif selection is compact but considered. Order something to finish with if you are staying for a second round. The staff can usually point you toward something you have not tried before.
Best Time to Visit

Weekdays between 5pm and 8pm are the sweet spot. The bar fills after 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, at which point the room feels more like a neighborhood party than a cocktail destination. Both modes are good, but the earlier version is better for the drinks. No reservations are taken, which keeps the regulars happy and gives everyone equal access.
