Zam Zam is the legendary Haight-Ashbury Persian-themed dive, a small wood-panelled room with a horseshoe bar, classical music on the speakers and a single drink the regulars order: the gin martini.
The bar serves only classics, gin martinis, Manhattans, daiquiris, with a strict no-modern-cocktails policy. Cash only. The bartenders are famously gruff but the drinks are rigorously made. A proper San Francisco institution since 1941.
