Our Take on Jardín Mallinkrodt
Calle Mallinkrodt is the quiet, tree lined edge of Bellavista, two blocks from the Pio Nono crowds, and number 170 opens into a 600 square meter garden of long wooden tables, wicker armchairs, and strings of small hanging lights. Vivir para Comer covered the opening in January 2017 and framed it as the patio bar the neighborhood had been missing.
The pitch stays simple a decade on: a long bar pouring eight Chilean craft beers, four food trucks working the edges of the plot, and vines overhead. FoodyChile groups it with Bellavista's essential craft beer stops, and the garden format borrows openly from the open air drinking cultures of Berlin and Amsterdam.
Reading the Room
Exposed brick, planters, and soft lighting carry the covered section; outside, the garden swallows groups of twenty without feeling crowded. On warm nights nearly every table fills by 21:00 and the hum stays at conversation level rather than party pitch. Wanderlog reviewers single out the night lighting as the reason photos here never need editing.

Who Shows Up, and When
Prices sit mid range for Bellavista: craft pints around 5,000 to 6,000 pesos, cocktails slightly above. You pay for the real estate, not the pour, and the pour holds up anyway.
Afternoons pull families and laptop workers; after 20:00 the garden turns over to groups in their twenties and thirties. Saturday peaks earliest. Weeknights stay loose enough to walk in.
The Word on the Street
- Vivir para Comer called it the new patio bar of Bellavista at opening and praised the Berlin style garden format.
- FoodyChile lists it among the top three craft beer options in the neighborhood.
- Wanderlog and Tripadvisor reviewers repeat two notes: come at sunset, and come hungry for the food trucks.
Go, or Skip
- Groups that cannot agree on one cuisine
- Craft beer drinkers who want open air, not a taproom
- Avoid if you want table service and a warm corner in winter
