Our Take on Maquila Bar
Maquila Bar opened at Calle Delgado 4 in 2014 as the first brewpub in central Seville, brewing its SON house beers on site and backing them with six rotating Spanish and international craft taps. It closed for good on June 16, 2024.
CosasDeCome Sevilla reported the closure after chef and owner David Fernandez left to direct the kitchen program at the Querencia Sevilla hotel. The Tripadvisor listing closed out at 4.5 over roughly 1,389 reviews, which tells you what the city lost.
Reading the Room
The room kept it simple: modern fittings, the brewing kit in view, and an open kitchen turning seasonal product into tapas, as CosasDeCome and local guides described it.
Nothing about it chased trends, which is partly why it lasted a decade.

The neighborhood still drinks well. Start with our Seville craft beer guide for the rooms that carry the torch, or reset with gin at La Gintoneria five minutes west.

The Pattern in the Reviews
- Buena comida y buena cerveza ran the review pattern for a decade; CosasDeCome’s closing piece called out ten years of good food and good beer.
- The 4.5 average over roughly 1,389 Tripadvisor reviews stood among the best beer ratings in the city when the doors shut.
- Local craft beer guides listed it as the essential city center stop right up until June 2024.
