Long Bar is the heritage Raffles Hotel bar where the Singapore Sling was invented in 1915 by Ngiam Tong Boon. The room is colonial-era, wicker chairs, fans on the ceiling, peanut shells on the floor (a heritage tradition encouraged by the bar).
The Singapore Sling is the only reason to come, 14,000 are served every year. The original recipe (gin, cherry brandy, pineapple, lime, Cointreau, Bénédictine, grenadine, Angostura, soda) is unchanged. Tourist-heavy but the heritage is real.
