Japanese Whisky and Mizunara Cask Discussion
Mizunara takes its name from the Japanese oak species used to mature some of the most distinctive Japanese whiskies. The bar in Roppongi specialises in Japanese single malts and the bartenders are knowledgeable about the difference between bourbon, sherry, and mizunara cask maturation.
The 500-bottle list runs deep into Yamazaki, Hibiki, Hakushu, Nikka Yoichi, Nikka Miyagikyo, Karuizawa (the rare closed distillery), Hanyu, Chichibu. The tasting flights are organised by cask type or distillery.
The crowd is whisky enthusiasts and visiting whisky tourists. Pair with Bar Goldfinger for a complete Tokyo whisky tour.
