São Paulo has the deepest craft beer scene in Brazil. The three below are verified open and show why.
Cervejaria Nacional opened in Pinheiros in 2011 as the city's first brewpub. House labels draw on Brazilian folklore, among them the Y-iara Pilsen, the Mula IPA, and the Sa'si Stout, all brewed in the tanks behind the bar. Order a tasting board to sample the range. Best early on a weeknight, before the after-work crowd fills the room.
EAP, the Empório Alto dos Pinheiros, runs one of Latin America's deepest beer lists, with 33 taps and more than 600 labels across Brazilian and imported brewers. It works as both bar and bottle shop. Ask the staff to steer you toward a Brazilian sour or saison. Best for a long session with food. Expect a wait on weekend nights.
Cervejaria Tarantino brews in Limão, in the Zona Norte, and bills itself as the city's first large-scale craft brewery. The bar pours house beers like the ZN Lager and the Mango IPA beside a wide patio with foosball and arcade games. It produces around 30,000 liters a month. Best on a warm afternoon outdoors. Good for groups rather than a quiet pint.
Cervejaria Nacional and EAP are the essential stops. Most peak between 9 and 11 PM.
Pinheiros holds the densest cluster, so start there and work west toward Alto de Pinheiros.
