Hannekes Boom

After Work $$

Hannekes Boom is a wood and concrete bar on a wooden deck over the Amsterdam harbour, near Centraal Station. The deck is large enough for hundreds of people and in summer the after-work and weekend crowds make it one of the best urban drinking spaces in the city.

The drinks are simple — Dutch and Belgian beers on tap, basic cocktails, reliable wine. The kitchen is decent. The bar is the deck and the deck is the bar — not a destination for craft cocktails but for a 5pm to 9pm summer beer.

The crowd is mid-thirties Amsterdam locals and travellers staying centrally. Best from May to September. Pair with Twenty Third Bar at the Okura for a complete summer Amsterdam evening.
