Cocktails in the Bangkok Old City
Phra Nakhon Bar opened in 2019 in a converted Bangkok shophouse in the Old City. The rooftop terrace looks directly onto Wat Suthat — one of the most beautiful temple views in central Bangkok — and the cocktail programme matches the location.
The drinks lean toward Thai botanicals and indigenous spirits. The Wat Suthat Sour uses Thai rice spirit, fresh lime, and palm sugar. The Old City Manhattan is built with local rye and Asian bitters.
The crowd is mid-thirties Bangkok creatives and travellers staying in the Old City. Best at sunset when Wat Suthat is golden lit. The Old City has fewer cocktail bars than Sukhumvit, and Phra Nakhon Bar is the standout.
