Our Take

Heritage Brussels French Wine Bar

Chez Richard is a heritage Brussels wine bar with a deep French focus. The room is small and unfussy — bare wood, exposed brick, around 30 seats — and the wine list runs to around 150 bottles, mostly French with a small Belgian and German layer.

The drinks are simple. The bartender-sommelier will recommend by style. The food menu is small French plates done well — pâté, terrine, cheese, charcuterie. The bar has been operating since the 1990s and the regulars defend it.

The crowd is older Brussels professionals and wine enthusiasts. Pair with Le Coq for a Brussels wine-then-cocktails evening.
