Copenhagen's Oldest Bar Since 1723
Hviids Vinstue is the oldest bar in Copenhagen, established 1723. The room is preserved 18th century — original wooden bar, antique cabinets, low ceilings, dim warm lighting. Hans Christian Andersen drank here. So did Søren Kierkegaard.
The drinks are simple — Danish beer, akvavit, basic wine. The atmosphere is the experience as much as the drinks. The bar has been operating continuously for over 300 years.
The crowd is heritage tourists, Copenhagen regulars, and visitors drawn by the history. Pair with Ved Stranden 10 for a complete Copenhagen heritage afternoon.
