Belon

· Wine list Belon is the modern French neo-bistro on Staunton Street whose wine programme — run since 2018 by Black Sheep's group sommelier team and on-the-floor by Romain Loriot — is the most thoughtful classical French cellar in Central. The list runs to over six hundred references with serious vertical sets of Coche-Dury, Roulot and the broader Côte de Beaune; the by-the-glass programme uses Coravin to pull from older vintages that would normally require a full bottle commitment.

The food is a Loriot-and-Daniel Calvert collaboration that exists to serve the wine. Ranks seventh because the format reads as restaurant rather than wine bar, but the bar-only experience is among the city's most rewarding.
