Our Take on A Camponesa Príncipe
+ cheese · Casual A Camponesa on Rua Marcos Portugal is Lisbon's reference wine-and-cheese room — a wood-panelled bar opened in 2015 that pairs about thirty by-the-glass Portuguese wines with a cheese counter that runs the country's whole canon, from Serra da Estrela through Azeitão to the Azores São Jorge. The wine bias is toward Vinho Verde alvarinho and Bairrada whites that match the cheeses better than the obvious tinto choices.
Service is casual and patient. Ranks eighth because the format is single-purpose but, within Portuguese wine-and-cheese, no other Lisbon room matches the depth of pairing thinking.
