A Cova Funda

Wine Bars $$

The Mouraria room committing hardest to Dão and Trás-os-Montes producers nobody else in Lisbon is pouring.

· Wine + tapas A Cova Funda is the Mouraria petisco bar tucked behind Largo do Intendente that has quietly become the neighbourhood's most reliable wine room. Owner-sommelier Pedro Castro pours a fifteen-reference rotating list that gravitates toward Dão and Trás-os-Montes producers most lists ignore, paired with petiscos that the kitchen builds to argue with the wine — pickled mackerel against cool Encruzado white, smoked sausage against a structured Bairrada.

The room is small, the lighting is intentional, and the prices remain post-gentrification rather than post-fame. Ranks fourth because the by-the-glass focus on lesser-known regions makes the buying perspective unique in central Lisbon.
