Marrakech does not have many purpose-built sports bars. Fan Zone is the most complete one the city has, and it sits inside a casino.
The room belongs to the Es Saadi Resort on Rue Ibrahim El Mazini in Hivernage, attached to the Casino de Marrakech. The resort's own listing promises "the biggest sports events on five giant screens, live and in full," and the programming backs that up: Champions League nights, NBA games, boxing cards and Six Nations rugby all make the schedule, which the bar posts in advance on its Facebook page.
That casino setting shapes the experience. Fan Zone opens at 6pm and runs until 5am, seven days a week, which makes it one of a very small number of rooms in Marrakech where a west coast NBA tip-off is actually watchable. Most of the city's hotel bars close by 1am. This one is getting started when they shut.
The seating is built around the screens rather than against them, low sofas and grouped armchairs instead of pub benches. A shisha service runs alongside the drinks list, which leans on local beer and spirits rather than cocktails. The food stays in finger territory, plates built for sharing through a two-hour match window rather than sit-down dining. Anyone wanting a full restaurant meal can walk two minutes into the resort, where L'Epicurien serves late.
Who is it for? Hotel guests from the Hivernage strip, well-dressed locals on derby nights, and travelers who refuse to miss a fixture mid-holiday. It skews smarter than a Gueliz pub. Nobody will turn you away in trainers, but the casino next door sets a tone, and the crowd dresses accordingly. For a louder, cheaper, more local version of the same evening, Café Atlas on Place Abdelmoumen is the counterweight.
The best time to go depends on the fixture. For European football, arrive 30 minutes before kick-off; the sofas with clean sightlines to the main screens go first. Big Botola nights, when Raja or Wydad play, fill faster and run louder. For NBA or US boxing, the late license is the whole point: you can settle in after midnight and still see the final bell.
Within the city's sports bar ranking, Fan Zone holds the top hotel-venue slot, with S Bar Sports Lounge as its closest rival on screen count. Both appear in our wider Marrakech bar guide, and the category itself is covered city by city in our global sports bars index.
