What Bella Ciela Is
Bella Ciela took over the 8th floor of the Mercure Nice Centre Notre Dame in early 2023 and turned a hotel roof into the most usable terrace in the city center. The address is 28 Avenue Notre Dame; the view is the Basilica de Notre Dame in the foreground and Nice rooftops running to the sea.
The Rooftop Guide lists it among the essential roofs in Nice. Farago on the Roof holds the smarter Carre d'Or postcode, but Bella Ciela holds the better sightline, and sightlines are the whole sport up here.
Two levels split the work: loungers and bar stools on the main terrace, a pool deck with sun beds above. The pool belongs to hotel guests by day; the bar belongs to whoever climbs the eight floors.
Reading the Room
The fit out runs to comfortable rather than flashy: low seating, planted edges, and the basilica towers doing the decorating. Falstaff and the Cote d'Azur tourist board both list it without reservation.
Wind matters at this height. The terrace closes sections in rough weather, so a gray forecast is a reason to reroute.
