What Farago on the Roof Is
Farago on the Roof opened in 2018 on the eighth floor of the AC Hotel Nice by Marriott, at 59 Promenade des Anglais. The terrace reads the full sweep of the Baie des Anges: airport on one side, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat on the other.
The operation is seasonal. It runs May 1 to September 30, noon to 10pm, dark on Sunday and Monday.
Monaco Life covered the 2025 relaunch after the hotel rebuilt the rooftop with an open kitchen, a larger central bar and a pergola. The venue's own review ledger sits at 4.4 across 268 entries.
Reading the Room
Lounge seating on one flank, dining tables on the other, a central bar in between. The pergola shades the dining side; the lounge side takes the sunset straight on.
The hotel pool sits on the same level but stays reserved for guests. The bar does not.
The Menu, Edited
Who Shows Up, and When
Hotel guests early, then a Nicois after work crowd that climbs up for sunset, then a dressed dinner crowd under the pergola.
The Rooftop Guide ranks it among the top terraces in Nice, which keeps weekend sunsets full. Book or come at noon.
What Regulars Say
- Tripadvisor reviewers single out the vibe and the music programme as the reason to pick it over street level competition.
- The Rooftop Guide calls the 360 degree sightline the best angle on the bay this side of the port.
- Monaco Life described the 2025 rebuild as a transformation, with flair.
- The repeated caution: it closes for seven months a year. Check the calendar before you walk over.
Who It Is For
- Sunset drinks that need a view and a DJ rather than a quiet corner.
- Groups; the sharing menu and lounge seating are built for four to eight.
- Avoid in winter. The whole floor is shut October through April.
Before You Go
The hotel stands at the Gambetta end of the Promenade, a 12 minute walk from Place Massena. Take the lift to eight.
Pair the sunset here with a late set at Le Shapko in the old town, ten minutes east.
